Thanks to all our friends and fans who commented on our blog and Facebook page and voted for their favorite cover for the November issue. Both of the lovely choices are from a feature on interior designer Mona Thompson’s (of Providence Ltd.) own home. And the winner is…..

Of the 157 votes we received, 94 were in favor of this option, noting how inviting the open doors and roaring fire looked. And since we’re in Arkansas, we can spend our Novembers on the patio!
Those is favor of the living room shot…no worries, we’re running a beautiful full page image as the story intro.
Thanks for voting!
Lisa Canning is young, beautiful and filled with an enthusiasm for designing homes that’s positively contagious. She’s got an impressive resume that’s growing steadily – she kicked her career off on HGTV’s Marriage Under Construction and launched her own design business shortly after that. Her modern approach to design was just what I needed when I enlisted her services to update my condo and the result is a fresh space that truly reflects my style and my lifestyle.
We figured it was time to get better acquainted with Lisa to find out about the designers who inspire her and what advice she has for designing a room.

It’s in our drinking water, our toothpaste and even the bottled juices and sodas we drink. Fluoride, according to the American Dental Association, is a key mineral in the fight against cavities and can even repair the early stages of tooth decay. The ADA warns, however, that, like any other nutrient, fluoride can be misused and, in some circumstances, can become a double-edged sword.
While dental health has improved significantly in the United States since the fluoridation of water in the 1950s, interestingly, countries without fluoridated water have shown an equally significant improvement. And, in contrast to the good it’s purported to be doing, there have been serious accusations that this tooth saver contributes to everything from thyroid disorders to infertility to pre-term birth and anemia during pregnancy. Today, we’re shopping for fabulous family wall art. When I first saw photos of Jessa ZG’s colorful and unusual art creations, I thought these might be perfect to offer in my shop. To ensure the product was up to snuff for you, I requested samples. When the samples from Jessa arrived, it confirmed my suspicion.
This is cool artwork, people! Graphic, playful, and unique — the kind of accent that can make a room.

The hues really pop against the black background.
I can’t keep from smiling when I look at 2-year-old Blaire in the charming “Bubbles” design. How fun is this
Gold flourishes are a must this fall. It took over the runways, like gold lame at Diane von Furstenberg and metallic foil printing at Jason Wu. If that’s too decadent, opt for accessories instead: strappy gold heels will do the trick, or a beautifully feminine Emily Armenta necklace.
At home, try incorporating gold accents, like glamorista Kelly Wearstler’s tableware for Pickard. Or follow designer Reggie Marshall of Marshall Clements’ lead and introduce it through molding to create the aura of an elegant chateau. “It’s something that’s just very French,” says Marshall, who designed this Little Rock bathroom complete with a Gothic Revival altar from Avignon converted as a sink. We could get used to that.
