Artist Profile — Anne Lullie

Sometimes to find your true creative calling, it takes bumping into kindred spirits.

Anne Lullie could draw an apple better than most five-year-olds, and decided right then that she would be an artist.

“I learned to sew and embroider by hand as a child,” said Anne. And with her treadle machine, she was stitching together clothes by age twelve.

She went on to study Art and to sew quilts. But her artwork didn’t really sing for her until much later, when she encountered her soul sisters.

Interior: Comfy guest cottage

Nearly six years’ worth of kids, puppies, teenagers, friends and relatives have passed through the doors of this homey guest cottage in Surrey, B.C., owned by Linda Edworthy, a teacher, and her husband, Sam, a dentist. Backing onto a quiet lane where roses climb the fences and kids weave happily on bicycles, the cottage features an interior that’s as inviting as its surroundings. At the Races

Have you been to the Saratoga race track yet? I have been a few times so far, but last year I went almost every day, and I won a bit here and there. No luck  yet this year. Maybe I will have some luck this weekend. If you like the race track or you like horses, you may want to check out Beekman Street gallery because it showcases a lot of one-of–kind pieces. I found a painting from Boguslaw Lustyk that is a gorgeous scene from the track. There are also some very nice sculptures, among many other finds there. Beekman Street Gallery is at  70 Beekman St., Saratoga Springs, 542 6688.

I crammed my notebook page with blissful scribbles.
